The EHF (Environmental Handling Fee) is a surcharge added to Small Appliances sold to and shipped to residents of British Columbia, to support the provincial recycling program know as "unplugged"
If your Ship To address is in another province in Canada or in the USA, this program does NOT apply to you, so you will NOT be charged the EHF.
Unplugged, the Small Appliance Recycling Program gives British Columbians a new convenient recycling option for Appliances at its end of life. Starting October 1st, 2011, recycle your old and broken small appliances at one of over 100 Unplugged recycling drop-off locations across the province and help reduce pollution, save energy, and protect our environment. Unplugged is the first small appliances recycling program of its kind in Canada and the only government mandated small appliance recycling program in B.C. It accepts more than 120 small appliances, ranging from toasters and electric toothbrushes to countertop microwaves. Unplugged is a non-profit program funded by a recycling fee applied to new small appliances sold by retailers in B.C. The recycling fee covers all program costs, including collection, transportation and recycling. An EHF fee will be displayed as a separate charge in your invoice and subject to both provincial sales tax (PST) and Federal Sales Tax (GST).
